Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) | Information

Author: Mary Gillespie

People are talking about us! We stand out from the crowd with the best skin care and product ingredients. We set a new standard for results, place your order today and watch the magic happen.

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) are non-toxic, single chain molecules occurring naturally in nature, your results keep improving with our exclusive,

  • Glycolic Acid - sugar cane
  • Lactic Acid - sour milk
  • Malic Acid - apples
  • Mandelic Acid - bitter almonds

Glycolic acid is the smallest molecular chain of all the alpha hydroxy acids, penetrating your skin for a faster and dramatic result. Results are dependent on strength, how the glycolic is carried to your skin called a vehicle such as, a cream or a gel, frequency of application, and amount of time left on your skin especially concerning glycolic peels. A gel vehicle is absorbed better than a cream making it stronger, giving you faster results.  Sensitive skin likes weaker creams but sensitive oily skin will feel greasy in a few hours, and depends on the lower 10% Glycolic Acid Liquid or Gel and 15% Glycolic Acid Liquid or Gel strengths. Glycolic works on the surface and lower dermal layer zapping wrinkles at their source, and cleaning out the living quarters of acne in the sebaceous follicle. Its sloughing skin-action increases cell renewal, restores your youthful skin texture and tone, helps dry and thick sun damaged skin, removes old dark pigment such as, sun spots, promotes small scar reduction, and dislodges and removes clogged pores…often a blackhead by the time you can see it. We call it our "pore scrubber"!  Acne pustules are unroofed and start healing with our higher strength glycolic peels, and are not allowed to return with our daily maintenance of glycolic cleansers, liquids, gels and creams.

Which glycolic salicylic strength is right for me?

Lactic acid compared to glycolic under a microscope appears similar to a large boulder rolling across the surface of your skin, unable to penetrate too deeply. Milder, and normally free of unwanted side effects is great for sensitive skin, surface wrinkles and clogged pores.  The sloughing-action whisks away dead and dry skin while hydrating, improving skin tone and texture, and increasing cell renewal for a younger you.

Glycolic acid and other alpha hydroxy acids are patented by chemist Ruey Yu, Ph.D. and Eugene Van Scott, M.D. for 35 uses, the most popular are acne, brown spots or uneven darker skin tone called hyperpigmentation, aging and small scar reduction. Nicholas Perricone, M.D. has the patent for ingrown hairs, extremely helpful for curly hair growing back into the skin commonly targeting men’s beards and women’s bikini areas.
